Invitation to the Fifth Meeting

    The Srečko Vilhar Central Library Koper invites you to the fifth lecture of this year’s Infoverzum, which will take place 13. on 13 October 2025 at 11:00 AM in an online environment .

    We will listen to a Slovenian philosopher, social critic, and publicist. Together, we will explore the current topic of media literacy. We will learn how to identify subtle propaganda practices in everyday media content, understand the boundaries between hate speech and freedom of expression, and more.

    Dr. Boris Vezjak is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Arts in Maribor. His scientific and professional work focuses primarily on the history of philosophy, discourse theory, media analysis, and argumentation theory. As a social and media critic, he has also been active for 20 years as a commentator on his website In media res, where he continuously analyzes Slovenian society as well as media and journalistic practices.

    We will explore:

    • The Importance of Language and Framing in Creating “Us vs. Them” Narratives (e.g., metaphors, emotionally charged words)
    • Case Analysis from Slovenia and Abroad: What Responsibilities Do Editors, Journalists, and Librarians Bear?
    • What Is the Role of Libraries?
